ABOUT
US
Loreto Fishing is a comprehensive Web site designed to keep you up-to-date
on the fishing conditions found in and around the Islands of Loreto, one of
the richest fishing destinations found in the Sea of Cortez.
ABOUT
LORETO
The Sea of Cortez offers many superb fishing destinations but Loreto stands
out as one of the finest. Located 700 miles south of the US border on the east
side of the Baja California peninsula, Loreto is Baja’s oldest city and
is home to the very first California mission built in 1697. The town of Loreto
is unique among Mexican destinations with 15,000 residents and an international
airport served by daily flights from L.A and San Diego. Loreto is tranquil
and has not been overrun by tourists nor major developments. The small town
charm with its laid back Mexican ambiance and a family atmosphere captivates
visitors. There are several good choices for accommodations in various price
categories. At this time, there is one major all-inclusive resort hotel, located
five miles south of town at Nololo. Several other small boutique hotels located
in town offer great rooms at very low prices. In town you'll find numerous
restaurants serving up traditional Mexican fare, fabulous seafood and of course,
great margaritas!
ABOUT
THE FISHING
World renowned for its dynamite summer dorado fishing, Loreto also offers abundant
yellowtail, marlin, roosterfish, yellowfin tuna, cabrilla, grouper and sailfish.
The islands of Coronado, Carmen, Catalan, Montserrat and Danzante lie just
off just off the coast of Loreto and offer protection from weather, varied
fishing environments and stunning natural scenery. The coastal town is surrounded
by unspoiled desert and the jagged peaks of the Sierra La Giganta Mountains
providing a dramatic backdrop to colonial town of Loreto.
