There
are several types of boats available for charter
in Loreto ranging from 22' pangas to small inboard
cruisers in the 25-28' range. Most boats are professionally
maintained and equipped with radios & flotation
gear. Boats generally depart the Loreto Marina
(downtown) a 6:00 a.m. and return between 1-2:00
p.m.on full-day charters. The same hours are true
for charters originating out of Juncalito or Puerto
Escondido.
ABOUT THE SKIPPERS
Most
boat captains are local natives of Loreto and have
gained their years of experience by fishing commercially
ever since they were kids. Nearly all captains speak
some English. It is always a good idea to meet with
your captain prior to departing to be sure that you
are aware of what is included with the charter such
as food, cold drings, etc. Nobody
can guarantee that you will land your limit of monsters but these men
know fishing and they want you to succeed. The following are some examples
of the charter boats that are available:
Chili II
24-foot
center console with 351 Ford V-8 inboard for fast,
smooth ride. Live bait well, built-in fish box
for your catch, and full walk-around fishing. Chili
II easily accommodates up to four fisherman.
Toro Bravo
24-foot
center console sister ship to the Chili II, Toro
is a Loreto charter veteran. Completely rebuilt & refurbished
for safe, dependable offshore work, Toro will also
take up to four guests.
